Life in a Pandemic
The Woolpack Keeps Going
The New Normal
In March 2020 the world changed for all of us. Throughout the subsequent 17 months, the pub and hospitality sector was massively impacted by COVID-19, but at The Woolpack, we have managed to ride it out.
Between long closures, restricted open hours, new rules, and constant uncertainty, our customers and staff have been brilliant.
Some of the changes made by COVID are now everyday practice, and we are embracing them. In many ways, you could say it has changed us for the better. Table service, improved hygiene, better EPOS, contactless payments – all great improvements.
Other rules have been more restrictive on trade, but they have been necessary for the safety of all of us. Here you will find details of how we are complying with government guidance and rules until such a time that we can relax and go “back to normal”.
Freedom Day
Since Monday 19th July the majority of government restrictions have been lifted, despite this, we continued to uphold certain policies for staff and customer safety. But as of February 2022, there are no legal constraints or restrictions on how we trade.
As such, we no longer need to explain our COVID policies. However, please rest assured that our levels of hygiene practice remain the same as they did at the height of the pandemic. We continue to provide hand sanitiser to staff and customers, contactless payments are encouraged, table service is available where possible, test and trace is still active if you wish to use it, and we will not discriminate against anyone wearing a mask.
If you are still worried about COVID, putting it as politely as possible, please don’t come to the pub! We are doing absolutely everything in our power to keep the environment safe while still being able to make some money, but we cannot guarantee that we are 100% safe. If you are uncomfortable or concerned about your safety, it’s better to stay away for the time being.
When restrictions are in place, you can download our COVID risk assessment here. We also have an additional risk assessment for outdoor only service should that return.
