We are proud to be the winners of The Best Sports Venue at the EI Awards and Stars of Stonegate Awards.
From at least 400 pubs and bars in the region, we held have held this title 3 times. This honour was given to us by industry experts who saw our unique eye for detail when it comes to promoting and presenting live sport.
In 2019 and 2021, we were invited to the National Awards as one of 3 finalists in the category for all pubs in the UK, and we also won the Best Marketing Initiative for how we delivered The World Cup 2018.
Live Football
Big Game Atmosphere
The Woolpack Sports Bar is renowned in Huddersfield as one of the best venues to watch live football. On a Saturday afternoon, you will find 3 big screen HD TVs showing live football scores, and the big game live on our 90 inch HD projector turning our pub lounge into a stadium!
We are an official venue for Sky Sports. There is no foreign commentary, unreliable signals or poor quality picture. We show official broadcast games to the highest quality, including Sky Sports + which includes EFL midweek games and Saturday early kick-offs.
In the summer you can enjoy live sports in our secret garden with 2 large high-brightness screens in our sheltered area. This makes for a brilliant atmosphere during football tournaments where you can enjoy the game alongside the sun and table service from our outside bar.
We absolutely love the big game atmosphere, with the volume turned up to the max and even support from the trumpets of Terrier Brass (Huddersfield Town’s official band) during the World Cup. We check every seat for optimal viewing position and re-arrange the layout to create standing areas.
You even have a chance of winning big money when watching big football matches at The Woolpack Sports Bar. Our own in-house score predictor runs for selected matches, for £2 you pick the final score (and the time of the first goal as a tie-breaker) and if you win, the whole pot is yours. Most weekends we payout £40-£70, but when we have no winner, it rolls over to the next game and has reached £700 before!
World Cup 2026
Live At The Woolpack
Looking for a pub to watch the big games of the World Cup 2026. Well, look no more, you have found an award-winning Sports Bar that specialises in big tournament matches.
At The Woolpack, we will be showing all the games that we can offer (some kick-offs are after midnight), and when England are playing, the pub transforms into a stadium. We will have big screens galore, incredible sound (including a drum), outside bars and the best atmosphere away from the games themselves.
It all kicks off on Thursday, 11th June, with England playing their first game on Wednesday, 17th June at 9pm versus our old nemesis, Croatia
All The Sports
Live at The Pack
It’s not just football that we show at The Woolpack Sports Bar. We have a strong following for rugby, regularly showing Super League action and England Internationals including the Six Nations.
Horse racing is another popular sport at our sports bar. We always run popular tipping competitions for the Cheltenham and Ascot Festivals with cash prizes being handed out while watching the big races. The Grand National, of course, is another big racing event for us.
We have great connections with local sport too. Almondbury Woolpack FC run from our pub, two football teams who won back to back league titles 2015/16 and 2016/17. We also host cricket teams during the summer, tennis clubs, badminton clubs and run golf tournaments.
